Description
Scaling Assent-Based Care: Scaling Your Whole Model (Not the Parts)
2 CEUs (1 General, 1 Ethics)
*This is a self-contained module from the “Beyond the Protocol” workshop, a comprehensive workshop on PFA and SBT.
Course Abstract: This module covers how to embed assent-based care across an organization, clinic, team, etc. so deeply that it survives turnover, leadership changes, and the person who championed it. Drawing on the experience of scaling this work across a large multi-state provider (including the expensive, honest failures along the way), it walks through a framework of defining “good” observably, securing buy-in, piloting and adapting, and building sustaining systems. Participants learn how to translate abstract values into measurable staff behaviors, pursue buy-in through values, experience, and data pathways tailored to who they’re trying to reach, and speak to what an organization actually cares about rather than only to clinical values. The module scales to any context, from a single technician to an entire company, and emphasizes protecting the core principles while flexing the delivery, treating staff with the same assent-based care extended to clients.
Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will be able to…
- Define observable, measurable “good” for scaling and translate abstract values into a shared language and teachable staff behaviors
- Pursue buy-in through values-driven, experience-driven, and data-driven pathways, matching the approach to the individual, team, or organization being addressed
- Translate clinical values into organizational value (e.g. cost, retention, safety, risk reduction) and evaluate one’s own control and influence in a given context
- Understand the components necessary to design and run pilots that define success, isolate variables, and use failure as system information before scaling more broadly
- Describe the defining features to build sustaining systems that embed assent-based care so it survives staff and leadership transitions
