Description
The Step-by-Step Implementation Bundle: FCR through Branch Planning
8 General CEUs
*This is a bundle of individual courses from the “Beyond the Protocol” workshop, a comprehensive workshop on PFA and SBT.
Description: This bundle takes you through the full Skill-Based Treatment (SBT) behavior chain, from a learner’s first communication response through the extra challenges that precede generalization. For each step, it covers what makes the response effective, how to choose among the options based on a learner’s repertoire and needs, and how to teach, shape, and reinforce it, along with the microshaping and prompting strategies that break a step down when a learner needs it.
A substantial focus throughout is on troubleshooting the problems that most commonly arise at each stage and how to adjust in the moment, as well as walking participants through data collection via video models.
Rounding out the step-by-step work, the bundle covers how to design and individualize the SBT branches and sharpens implementation skills with the finer points that experienced clinicians rely on: progress probes, mastery decisions, dosage, and integrating learner autonomy.
This is an ideal bundle for anyone who wants to master the mechanics of SBT and build confidence implementing and troubleshooting every step of the process. Each module stands on its own, so you can start wherever you need to, whether that’s brushing up on a single step you’re struggling with or working through the whole process sequentially.
Courses included in this bundle:
- Unpacking the FCR (1.5 CEUs)
- Unpacking the TR (1 CEU)
- Unpacking CAB1 (1.5 CEUs)
- Unpacking CAB2 (1 CEU)
- Unpacking CABs 3-5 (1 CEU)
- Unpacking CAB6 (0.5 CEUs)
- SBT Branch Planning: Moving from Conceptual Framework to Clinical Design (1 CEU)
- The Finer Points: Practical Recommendations for SBT (0.5 CEUs)
What you’ll learn:
- How to select, teach, shape, and troubleshoot each step of the SBT chain, and score data and apply mastery criteria at every stage
- How to build tolerance across CABs 3–5 while increasing both duration and task difficulty
- How to identify and stack CAB6 challenges to prepare learners for the hardest, most naturalistic version of a skill before generalization
- How to use microshaping and least-intrusive prompting to break steps down for learners who need it (and recognize when they don’t)
- How to keep trials variable and unpredictable, work from a place of HRE, and teach at the optimal teaching opportunity (the OTO)
- How to design and individualize branches, moving from a family’s broad goals to specific, measurable terminal goals
- How to run progress probes, set appropriate mastery criteria, decide SBT dosage, and integrate components of the Enhanced Choice Model for those who would benefit from it
- How to troubleshoot the problems that most commonly arise at each step and adjust implementation in the moment
Presenter Bios:
Hillary Laney, MA, BCBA, LBA spearheaded a company-wide transformation to assent-based care at one of the largest ABA organizations in the country. She built the mentorship infrastructure, data systems, and implementation frameworks that resulted in hundreds of clinicians and clinical leaders being trained and thousands of clients benefiting from PFA/SBT and assent-based care practices. She currently works as a Senior VP of Clinical Services at Centria Autism.
Liisa Podosek, MSW, M.Ed, BCBA, LBA built and delivered mentorship programs that transformed how hundreds of practitioners implement PFA/SBT and assent-based care, guiding clinicians from “I read about this” to “I can do this confidently.” She brings a trauma-informed lens to mentorship, helping practitioners navigate difficult cases and develop authentic caregiver partnerships. She currently leads the development and coordination of educational offerings through PFA & SBT Community.
Dr. Edward Sanabria, Ph.D, BCBA, LBA designed and implemented large-scale PFA/SBT mentorship systems that trained clinicians across the country in assessment and treatment approaches that prioritize client safety, dignity, and assent. His research interests in interdisciplinary collaboration, reflective practice, and the large-scale adoption of behavioral interventions inform his approach to helping practitioners develop humility-driven clinical practices that build strong therapeutic relationships. He currently serves as Senior Director of Functional Analysis and Treatment Implementation at Centria Autism, where he oversees national assent-based care training initiatives and PFA/SBT mentorship.
**Purchase includes 6 months of access to every course in this bundle.
