“HRE: Yeah, you know me!” offers 3 general learning CEUs and discusses: Operationally define, identify, facilitate, measure, track HRE, remove barriers to HRE and establish HRE boundaries. You will learn to identify, define and measure synthesized reinforcement (SR) as well as to identify empathetic listening. The stars of the video clip are Cindi Kennedy and Emily Ward.

About Your Presenters…

Hillary Laney, BCBA, is passionate about providing services to clients with significant behavioral needs which prioritizes dignity, safety, rapport, and assent. She received her M. Ed from the University of Washington and has extensive experience as a practitioner and in supporting practitioners, agencies, and schools to provide more comprehensive services to those who need them most. Hillary currently serves as the Vice President of Functional Assessment and Treatment at Centria Autism. She is responsible for staff development and training oversight across the agency in the implementation of assent-based interventions including; Universal Protocols, Practical Functional Assessment, and Skill-Based Treatment. In the past year, Hillary has overseen the training of over 300 supervising clinicians and her team has supported over 300 successful Practical Functional Assessments. In her free time, she volunteers moderating the PFA & SBT Community, an online group of over 20,000 members, which provides free content for members to learn and grow in assent-based practice.  

Brittany Bauerle is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a master’s degree in Education, with a specialization in Early Childhood and Autism. Brit has spent the last 15 years working in homes, clinics, schools, and communities with a variety of diagnoses, neurodiversities, and across a wide variety of ages (birth through early adulthood). Providing mentorship to clinicians in the field has become a passion of hers over the past several years, especially in the areas of Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) / Skills Based Treatment (SBT) and Universal Protocols. Brit is an active moderator of the PFA/SBT Community, an online community that offers support to practitioners for PFA/SBT. At Centria, Brit is able to combine both passions of providing mentorship and coaching clinicians through a company-wide clinical shift in PFA/SBT and Foundations of Care. 

Rebecca Brooks is a Licensed Behavior Analyst who lives in TN, USA. Her professional interests include PFA/SBT and training/fieldwork supervision. She currently works as a clinical BCBA and ABA Trainer for Siskin Children’s Institute and Balance Speech and Behavior.

Bethany Creech has been working in the field of ABA since 2005 and has been a BCBA since 2014. The focus of her work as a behavior analyst has been with students with disabilities in private day and public schools since 2016. She is passionate about building positive relationships between staff and students through assent-based assessments and interventions including Practical Functional Assessment & Skill Based Treatment and Collaborative Problem Solving.

Meghan (Crowley) Moloney is a Neurodivergent Clinician who believes that teaching to people’s strengths is what truly builds confidence.  After completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Developmental Disabilities, Meghan completed her Master’s Degree in Severe Special Education with teaching licensure in 2013, and continued her education in ABA at Endicott College. Meghan received her Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA) in 2013 and is a licensed Behavior Analyst. Meghan is a board member of Caribbean Association for Behaviour Analysis, and has served as a Member of the Clinical Review Board at numerous agencies.  She is a certified Special Education teacher in the U.S. Virgin Islands and was a Special Education Teacher at Pearl B. Larsen School. Meghan assisted in developing the first adult ABA program on St. Croix. With over 14 years of experience working with autistic children, teens and adults, Meghan looks forward to continuing to provide ABA services to children, adults, and families within the territory and disseminate values based services.

Nathan Dennis is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Behavior analyst who currently provides consultation services via telehealth. Nathan has worked in the autism field since 2008 as a direct support staff, case manager, case coordinator, and BCBA. Nathan has been a moderator in the PFA and SBT community since May 2021 and has appreciated collaborating with so many brilliant minds in our field. Nathan focuses treatment planning around assent based practices and enjoys consulting and coaching others on cases utilizing assent based practices. Nathan has a passion for approaching cases through a constructional lens rather than a pathological approach.

Penny Holloway, MA, BCBA is a PFA/SBT Trainer at Behavior Interventions Inc, a company dedicated to serving families, supporting fellow team members, and collaborating with organizations that work with the families. Penny has worked in the autism field for 12 years, has owned a private school in the Netherlands for autistic individuals aged 7-18. Penny has been practicing Applied Behavior Analysis since 2017, earned her MA in Applied Behavior Analysis at Rider University and graduated in 2020 and also passed her board exam in 2020. She has worked in homes for 6 years and is passionate about providing compassionate, effective, socially valid treatment while empowering clients and their families. The main focus of Penny’s work is disseminating safe, compassionate, dignified, trauma assumed, assent based, effective treatment in which rapport, bringing joy and building skills are key elements in treating target behavior.

Taylor Johnson has an MS in Behavior Analysis and Therapy and is a BCBA. She is also an Internationally certified Behavior Analyst (IBA) and a Board Certified Autism Professional. (BCAP). She has been implementing Skills Based Treatment for over 5 years and has also been a Moderator in the PFA and SBT Facebook group for the past 2 years (since June 2021). She has implemented the process with both highly verbal learners as well as non-verbal learners and in both English and German. She has completed over 25 hours of online training with FTF consulting. She was clinical director of one of the first ABA clinics in Stuttgart, Germany and is currently offering direct services as well as parent training to clients in Germany and Switzerland.

Cindi Kennedy is a native Floridian who currently works with a large scale organization mentoring clinicians in neurodiverse affirming practices focused on uplifting individuality and promoting assent-based therapy. Her passion for ensuring all autistic recipients of ABA services are uplifted and have a voice in their own treatment decisions drives her to be active as a moderator in the PFA and SBT Community. Cindi has worked as a Director of Clinic-based services at an early intervention clinic in Florida where she also has experience as an in-home and telehealth clinician. 

Emily Kearney, BCBA, LBA has been using the Sleep Assessment and Treatment Tool since 2015 and has engaged in a variety of self-study on the topic of behavioral treatment of sleep. She provides coaching and mentorship to newer practitioners and has implemented the SATT with a number of families, focusing on using the structured assessment to gather additional information needed to provide families with a comprehensive plan that is manageable and meets their family culture.

K. Lee Geer, BCBA, first began working in the field in early 90s. He received his Master’s degree from Southern Illinois University in 2013 under Mark Dixon. He has worked in alternative school settings, hospital settings, private home settings and currently works in the public school setting. He has primarily worked with individuals with severe/complex problem behaviors. After being introduced to the PFA/IISCA SBT way of viewing and treating complex behaviors, he never looked back.

Nicky Reg, BCBA

Shruti Mota Shah is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst currently practicing at New Jersey. She completed her Masters in both Counseling Psychology and Applied Psychology with concentration of ABA. Shruti got her BCBA certification in February 2021. She has worked in the field of ABA since 2018, in different settings such as insurance-based clinics, social skills group, and home-based settings. Shruti has been practicing the components of SBT since her certification and she truly loves how compassionate and humane the whole process is. It is televisable and that’s what makes it special. Shruti wishes to learn more and disseminate information about PFA & SBT.

Jeremy Walker, BCBA

Edward Sanabria has been working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities for over 12 years. Gaining experience in the public-school setting, he spent 5 years developing from a direct care staff to a clinician in an ABA private school before shifting his focus to the in-home and community setting. Edward received his master’s degree in Behavior Analysis from Simmons University in 2015 and has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and licensed clinician in the states of Massachusetts and now Connecticut since. He is currently enrolled at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology pursuing a doctoral degree in Behavior Analysis.

As a BCBA, Edward has continued to develop his skills, focusing on the implementation of compassionate, values driven services for families, integrating new evidence strategies into his clinical practice, and providing mentoring and supervision to RBTs and BCBAs at the Speech Pathology Group and Rehab Services of Connecticut (SPGCT). In practice, he currently implements the Practical Functional Assessment and Skills Based Treatment processes in the home and clinic settings. While taking advantage of the opportunities to work directly with his clients, Edward strives to find creative and meaningful ways to help the families and children strengthen their relationships in the home and develop relationships around the communities. Edward also serves as a mentor for the Simmons University masters in Applied Behavior Analysis program where he provides supervision for students’ experience hours. Edward’s research and practice interests include interdisciplinary collaboration, development of ecologically relevant repertoires for BCBAs, and the application of behavior analysis to adaptive aquatics.
