Unpacking CAB6

0.5 General CEUs

*This is a self-contained module from the “Beyond the Protocol” workshop, a comprehensive workshop on PFA and SBT.

Course Abstract: This short module covers CAB6, the extra-challenges step, which represents the hardest, most naturalistic version of a branch before generalization. Participants learn how to identify the real-world challenges worth targeting, how to stack a CAB6 challenge onto any relevant point in the chain, and how to keep it unpredictable. The module also addresses troubleshooting the challenges people run into the most, such as needing to shape a challenge down or spin it into its own branch, and walks viewers through practice in CAB6 data collection with live video model.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to…

  • Identify appropriate CAB6 challenges by drawing on the situations, tasks, and conditions that were avoided or simplified during earlier steps
  • Stack CAB6 challenges onto relevant points in the chain while keeping trials unpredictable
  • Troubleshoot CAB6 challenges, including shaping them down, moving one into its own branch, or determining a challenge is unnecessary
  • Collect and interpret CAB6 data, including scoring stacked challenges and applying mastery criteria through the full chain
