Course Abstract: This course will discuss the rationale for the Skill-Based Treatment (SBT) approach and instruction on how to determine the Optimal Teaching Opportunity during sessions, while avoiding causing unnecessary distress to clients.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe how values inform evidence-based practice 
  • Identify barriers to using traditional extinction procedures 
  • Describe the primary goal of Skill Based Treatment
  • Identify the Optimal Teaching Opportunity (OTO) within trials to maximize the effectiveness of skill building

Presenter Bios:
AnnaMarie Stoudenmire is a BCBA who has held certification for 9 years. She has worked with RBTs for the duration of that 9 years. AnnaMarie has been implementing SBT since 2020 across numerous clients and has served as a moderator in the PFA/SBT Community group throughout that time, providing guidance to members on SBT processes.
